All the snow days we had made last week the perfect week to jump in to multiplication! With not enough time to begin a new chapter, I decided to introduce the students to multiplication. We will continue to work on this as we move onto our chapter on elapsed time this week. I am very excited to say that all of the students seemed to understand multiplication concepts almost immediately! They are learning that multiplication is simply repeated addition. It is my goal that the whole class will become fluent in all of their multiplication facts (0-10) before the end of the school year. When they reach that goal, we will celebrate with an ice cream party. To assess their skills, I will be giving daily timed tests at the beginning of math class. Once a student masters a certain times table, he will move on to the next. To help with this, please make sure your child is practicing with Math Facts in a Flash. Studyladder.com and multiplication flash cards are also helpful!
